The winners of the 23rd edition of the Maria Carta Award, which will take place in Siligo (Sassari) on September 7, have been chosen. The award for 2025 goes to Eugenio Bennato, according to the decision of the scientific committee, chaired by Giacomo Serreli.

"With a career spanning over 55 years, he has never seen a lack of study, passion and appreciation of the culture of his land - the organizers say in a note - Without, however, his artistic expression remaining 'Napolicentric'. Indeed, the openness towards the music of the world, sharing diversity and memory, has produced sounds and songs increasingly marked by new contaminations".

Also awarded was the singer Sandra Ligas who "has dedicated herself with passion to the study and promotion of popular traditions, music, and dances of Sardinia, also through concerts and record productions". The other awards will go to the Circolo dei sardi "Shardana" of Warsaw and the company Sella & Mosca of Alghero: "As always, the scientific committee of the Foundation does not disappoint expectations - says the president of the Maria Carta Foundation Leonardo Marras -. The quality and prestige of the winners contribute to giving visibility to an event that rightfully belongs among the most significant cultural proposals of the summer in Sardinia. The atmosphere that you breathe in Siligo with the direct contact between artist and public - he concludes - is the winning formula that we want to continue to preserve".

The Maria Carta Award is supported by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Fondazione di Sardegna and is included in the "Salude&Trigu" framework program of the Sassari Chamber of Commerce. Awarded for the first time in 2003, it is an award established by the Maria Carta Foundation with the aim of promoting the scientific, cultural, artistic and economic progress of Sardinia and the Sardinians. Over the years it has been awarded, among others, to Ennio Morricone, Carla Fracci, Alda Merini, Dulce Pontes and Andrea Parodi. In 2024, the awards went to Tosca, Daniela Pes, the Circolo dei sardi of Trieste and the Rockhaus Blu Studio of Sassari.
