On the eve of the official presentation, the Manlio Selis Tournament reveals the names of the champions who will be honored tomorrow in Budoni. During the morning, details of the 29th edition of the Under-14 youth soccer tournament, taking place in Gallura from April 30th to May 3rd, will be announced. Celebrities from the worlds of sports and journalism will parade on stage at the Janna 'e Sole Resort to receive the awards presented by the organizers.
The "Ragazzi del Selis" award will go to Cagliari midfielder Luca Mazzitelli, but among the announced guests are legends Michele Padovano and Alessio Tacchinardi, and women's soccer stars Valentina Giacinti (Como 1907), Katja Schroffenegger (Ternana), and Emilie Haavi (Roma). For sports journalism, Marco Nosotti and Francesco Cosatti (Sky) and Francesca Benvenuti (Mediaset) will receive awards. Finally, the award for best youth sector will go to Espanyol de Barcelona among the professionals, and to the Canadians from Milton Soccer among the amateurs.
Forty teams from 10 countries will participate in the tournament, competing on the fields of Budoni, Calangianus, Golfo Aranci, Loiri Porto San Paolo, Monti, Telti and Olbia, the latter hosting the final on May 3rd.
Among the most significant side events is the return of the Selis Hope Cup, which will take place on May 2nd in memory of Salvatore Marroni, who passed away in 2023 from leukemia. The special triangular tournament will feature the 100% UGI Torino team, representing the Regina Margherita Pediatric Hospital in Turin, the team from the hematology-oncology department of Santa Chiara in Pisa, and the PSV Eindhovena team from Gaslini University in Genoa.
The 1st Manlio Selis Women International Tournament, dedicated to youth women's football and scheduled for December 6th to 8th, will also be officially presented at tomorrow's press conference.
