The Regional Council's majority is losing ground. The chamber voted against the Regional Council's proposal to replace a member of the Immigration Committee . The final result: 19 votes in favor, 29 against, and one abstention.
This is a real departure from the request of the Department of Labor, which has jurisdiction over the Immigration Consultation Committee. This is the first time the Sardinian Assembly has rejected the proposal in this legislature. In the Chamber, Councilor Desirè Manca explained the reasons behind Aldo Aledda's proposed dismissal.
Following the vote, the Five Star Movement immediately called for a group leaders' conference, announcing that otherwise they would walk out of the chamber. Upon returning to the chamber, President Piero Comandini closed the session.
The Immigration Committee includes, among others, three experts appointed by the Regional Council following a resolution by the Executive Committee. One of the three is Aldo Aledda, the member whose dismissal the Department of Labor requested in the Chamber today for the use, in a document written by the consultant himself, of "expressions seriously detrimental to the integrity of the Regional body," resulting in "the undermining of the relationship of trust." Among other things, Councilor Desirè Manca explained in the Chamber, "in one part of the document the consultant accuses me of functional illiteracy."
The secret ballot, requested by FdI group leader Paolo Truzzu, does not allow the identity of the snipers to be established, but it's clear that many Democrats have tripped up the government. Meanwhile, the opposition is talking about a councilor who has received a no-confidence vote. "This morning, the majority in the Regional Council passed a no-confidence vote in Labor Councilor Desirè Manca. President Todde must acknowledge this," the group leaders wrote in a statement. "Today's vote demonstrates, once again, that the center-left majority no longer has confidence in Labor Councilor Desirè Manca. President Todde should acknowledge this immediately. Disagreements within the majority have been going on for too long, and the lack of agreement with Councilor Manca's actions is widespread, effectively blocking the entire regional government."
