Sardinia joins Umbria thanks to the beauties of their history. A distant history but only on geographical maps, because archeology unites them.

It's called “The magic of amulets. Umbria and Sardinia near or far? Collecting and archaeology" and is the latest exhibition set up by the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation at the Giovanni Lilliu Center thanks to the collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria and the Archaeological Superintendency of Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and Southern Sardinia and the support of the Municipality of Barumini , the Archaeological Superintendence of Fine Arts and Landscape of Umbria, the Regional Directorate of Umbria Museums, the Antiquarium Arborense and the University Library of Cagliari.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 3 February during the day dedicated to the presentation of the exhibition which will start from 9.30 am.

The appointment, moderated by the journalist, Francesco Birocchi, will be opened by institutional greetings from the mayor of Barumini, Michele Zucca, from the president of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation, Emanuele Lilliu, from the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria, Tiziana Caponi, from the superintendent Sabap for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and Southern Sardinia, Monica Stochino.

Following, from 10 am, there will be an in-depth analysis of the exhibition through the interventions of the curators: Tiziana Caponi, Dorica Manconi, Fulvia Lo Schiavo, Gianfranca Salis, Andreina Ghiani and Caterina Lilliu.

At 11 am Francarosa Contu will speak (The Isre amulet collection and popular culture); by Andrea Bellucci (The figure of Giuseppe Bellucci (1844-1921)); by Raimondo Zucca (The figure of Giovanni Spano (1803-1878)). After the conference, the inauguration of the exhibition will begin.

The exhibition was born precisely from the desire to raise awareness of the Sardinian materials present in Umbria and kept within the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria and by the Superintendency of Umbria. These are ancient finds of different types, including Nuragic archaeology, amulets, Bellucci's collection, as well as the ancient epistolary correspondence of ancient letters that Bellucci himself exchanged with Canon Spano. In the various sections on display, there are not only Nuragic materials and collectible collections, but there will also be a space dedicated by the Superintendence of Cagliari and Oristano to Nuragic finds spread throughout the Mediterranean, to show precisely the closeness between Sardinia and Umbria thanks to archaeological finds.
