55 years after its creation, the music that Charlie Haden and Carla Bley wrote lives again.

The Liberation Music orchestra project, rearranged by Michele Corcella , will be performed on Sunday at 11am and 7pm at the Teatro Verdi as part of the "JazzOp" event, organized by the Blue Note Orchestra Association in collaboration with the Cooperativa Teatro e/o Musica.

The 1969 project counted on soloists such as Gato Barbieri, Don Cherry, Paul Motian and whose program and repertoire were explicitly political. The jazz orchestra of Sardinia invited the singer Denise Gueye and Gianluca Petrella, one of the greatest jazz trombonists in the world, who was also a collaborator of Carla Bley.

«I am happy to return to Sardinia – says Petrella – and to collaborate with OJS, one of the very few stable big bands left in Italy. I grew up playing in a jazz orchestra, it was a precious training ground for me where I learned a lot. These musical realities are precious treasures that we must protect. The “Liberation Music Orchestra” project is a journey into music, politics and the hopes of the 60s, in which to enjoy a musical alchemy made of great originality and jazz improvisation».
