The icon of Princess Diana stands the test of time in the United Kingdom and around the world, today marking the 28th anniversary of her tragic death in the car accident at the Alma tunnel in Paris on 31 August 1997.

A tragedy that nipped in the bud the beginning of her "second life" after her separation from Charles – now King of England – and with it her new love story, with the Egyptian-born entrepreneur and film producer Dodi Al Fayed – son of Mohamed, owner of the Harrods department store in London – who was also killed in the French capital during his mad car escape from the paparazzi.

The two had just spent a romantic holiday on a boat, enjoying the sun and sea of Sardinia.

A kiss they had stolen from a photographer made the front page of the Sunday Mirror—under the headline "The Kiss"—in a sensational scoop that quickly spread around the world. It was August 10th, twenty-one days before the tragic accident.

Nearly thirty years later, the legend of Lady Diana – queen of elegance and beauty, but above all a symbol of emancipation and freedom – remains more alive than ever.

The memory of Lady Di, however, does not allow a reunion between her two sons, William and Harry . Disagreements remain between them following the Duke of Sussex's traumatic break with the royal family and his move to the United States. And Harry himself, according to media reports, is reportedly working on a Netflix documentary about his mother, marking the 30th anniversary of her death.
