The James Webb Space Telescope has reached its observation point 1.5 million kilometers from Earth. This was announced by NASA, which manages the mission with the European Space Agency (ESA) and with the Canadian (CSA).
The telescope is now in the area called the second Lagrange point (L2), where the influence of the Earth, Moon and Sun balance. Italy has an important scientific role in the mission, with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the National Institute of Astrophysics (Inaf).
The James Webb should allow us to observe, at least this is the intention of its creator, the first galaxies that appeared after the Big Bang. But also exoplanets or the formation of stars.
