When sport meets the soul of those who tell it, stories are born that are destined to last over time. On Tuesday 10 December, at 4:30 pm, the cinema hall of the Autonomous Maritime Command West of Cagliari will host the Ussi Sardinia Awards 2024 , a ceremony that is much more than a presentation of awards: it is a journey through sporting excellence, indelible memories and the value of the narrative that transforms the athletic gesture into myth.

The most anticipated moment of the evening will be the awarding of the Gigi Riva Prize . The recipient will be a name that speaks directly to the heart of Sardinia: Gigi Piras , icon of Cagliari and symbol of a football lived with passion and deep roots. The president of Ussi Sardegna, Paolo Mastino, will present an award that celebrates two great intertwined stories: that of “Rombo di Tuono” and of those who, after him, continued to write the rossoblù dream.

Not only the past, but also the present and future of Sardinian sport will be protagonists. Among the winners stand out figures such as Angelo Binaghi, president of the Federtennis, the Olympians Stefano Oppo and Sergio Massidda. But also the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team , which continues to enchant the world with its elegance and determination.

Sharing the stage were clubs that represent the best of the island's sport, including Cagliari Calcio, Dinamo Sassari and Hermaea Volley , along with journalists who have been able to tell the story of the sport with passion, such as Eleonora Cottarelli, Carlo Alberto Melis and the editorial staff of 131.com.

A moment of great emotional intensity will be dedicated to the memory of Davide Astori , with the award named after the captain who died prematurely in 2018. It will be presented by his family members, Renato, Mauro and Bruno Astori, in a gesture that celebrates the values of humility, fairness and dedication that Davide embodied on the pitch and in life.

Not only recognition but also comparison: during the evening, a talk between young journalists will offer a space to reflect on the future of the profession, between the right to report, new technologies and access to sporting events.

Hosted by Giuseppe Deiana and Valentina Caruso, the Ussi Sardegna Awards confirm themselves as the annual event that not only celebrates sport, but also deeply ties it to the territory and the culture that makes it great.
