Much more than a concert of folk music or world music, if you prefer: it will be an embrace between Chile and Sardinia, which musically and culturally "discovered" each other almost half a century ago thanks to the arrival in the Island of Inti Illimani, forced into exile after the coup of the dictator Pinochet which overthrew the government of President Allende. On Sunday 20 March the Sassari Town Hall hosts the event organized by the San Nicola folk group at 5pm.

In addition to the two groups, the evening will also feature performances by the Sas Nugoresas group from Nuoro, Fantafolk and Maria Giovanna Cherchi. Guest of the Tressardi cabaret group.

The proceeds from the concert will be used to purchase health devices for the Neonatology Department of the University Hospital of Sassari.

The press conference held this morning was attended by the city councilor for Culture Laura Useri, Aldo Brigaglia, personal friend and biographer of the historic Chilean training, Gianni Mancosu, cultural operator and promoter of their tours on the island, and Leonardo Marras, president of the Maria Carta Foundation, organizing partner.

With them also Rossella Marogna and Rossana Peru, adopted just three months by two Sassari twins and now delegates of the "Chilenos de Sardigna" association, who thanks to the interest of the leader of the Inti Illimani, Jorge Coulon, deputy in the parliament of Santiago, they were able to rediscover their roots.
