Nobody wants him in the majority parties. Yet, the Meloni government with a decree from the Deputy Minister of Economy Maurizio Leo has relaunched the income meter , the anti-evasion tool with which the Revenue Agency verifies that the expenses made by a person are in line with the declared income.

A provision that could soon be revised or withdrawn, given what Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote on social media.

« No big fiscal brother will ever be introduced by this Government . I have always been against invasive income measurement mechanisms applied to ordinary people." Meloni explains that «the implementation of the tax delegation, carried out in particular by Deputy Minister Leo, has so far gone in the direction of improving the relationship between State and citizen, protecting honest workers and combating large-scale tax evasion, that, so to speak , self-styled have-nots with villas, boats and supercars . We will continue in this direction, always on the side of the citizens."

And again: «I met Deputy Minister Leo and we came to the conclusion that it is better to suspend» the decree «while awaiting further investigation».

Forza Italia leader Antonio Tajani had also announced: «The income meter doesn't work, it is an obsolete and outdated tool that the left likes and creates a lot of disputes. I will ask for its abolition ."

Matteo Salvini is of the same opinion: « I hope the income meter is a past that doesn't add up . I prefer the real turnover to be ascertained, not the presumed one, also because the punishment of the presumed wealth is not good, downward competition is not good".
