The fear clock has ticked: Sardinian businesses risk paying a heavy price for Trump's protectionism. With exports to the US taxed at 15%, as The Donald wanted, the increased costs are estimated to be around €25 million annually.

The pieces of the puzzle are put together by trade associations. "In 2024," Confartigianato reconstructed, "trade flows from the island to the American continent totaled 492 million euros."

If we compare this figure with the additional €25 million calculated by Confindustria, we get an initial projection: the duties appear destined to impact total exports by 5%.

A bloodbath especially for the agri-food sector, which has built a market worth 140 million euros in America, 100 of which are generated by the dairy sector alone.
