" The idea of an airline company of the Mediterranean Islands is gaining ground : after Air Corsica, the top management of Cyprus Airways have also shown strong interest in pursuing a project that could change our territorial continuity".

This was stated by the regional councilor for Transport, Antonio Moro , today in Alghero, on the sidelines of the conference "The bridge we want - Aerial territorial continuity and surroundings".

Cyprus Airways, the historic Cypriot flag carrier, is today a wholly privately owned company, owned by the SJC group . It connects Cyprus to 19 destinations with direct flights all year round thanks to a modern fleet of Airbus 320s.

«In recent days, the CEO of Cyprus Airways, Paul Sies, expressed his willingness to explore together some aspects related to the birth of a regional and multi-regional airline. We will certainly do so, in agreement with the Sicily Region, which is strongly interested in creating a new air transport system in the Mediterranean area. The attention shown by the Cypriot carrier certifies the feasibility and validity of an ambitious project capable of strengthening the guarantees on the right to mobility of Sardinians and citizens of the whole Mediterranean, a catchment area with a market with great growth potential, also in terms of tourism, which deserves to be managed, for all twelve months of the year, effectively and competently», concluded councilor Moro.
