The history of Sassari retraced through the streets and their names, the changes in toponymy. The historian Enrico Costa tells of a city that between the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was active, thriving, at the center of national trade. Sassari toponymy of the past and present is the theme of the second meeting of the "Strade Maestre" cycle, scheduled for Tuesday 12 December at 6pm in the conference room of the Sardinia Foundation. Entrance is free.

Simonetta Castia will lead the journey along the streets of the city and the changes in the municipal toponymy, observed through the lenses of Enrico Costa, the pages of the newspapers and the municipal resolutions, with the unusual discovery of a city included in the national commercial circuits also in the choice to use the Ginori factories for the arrangement of the name plates and street numbers.

The event, organized by the Aristeo cultural club, is promoted and carried out with the patronage and support of the Region and the Sardinia Foundation and with the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Sassari and the city's historical archive.
