The appointment with great music returns to Sassari : on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June, at 9.30 pm, the Arena in Piazza d'Italia will host Carl Orff's Carmina Burana , the first title of the project “La grande Lirica d'Estate”, part of the 2025 opera season of the “Marialisa de Carolis” Concert Organization.

After the great success of the past editions , all sold out, the Authority has decided to double the performances for each production , to respond to the enthusiasm and growing participation of the public. In recent days, work has begun on the set-up of the stage , designed by the engineer Emilio Sonnu and installed on the steps of the Palazzo della Provincia, in the heart of the city.

The Orchestra and Choir of the de Carolis will be conducted by Francesca Tosi, musical director and choirmaster of the Ente, already a protagonist of the 2024 season on the occasion of the Puccini Gala. The performance of Carmina Burana will see over 200 highly specialized artists and professionals on stage, in a great choral effort that will also involve the Coro delle Voci Bianche of the de Carolis, directed by Salvatore Rizzu, and the Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia. On the solo front, Domenico Balzani (baritone), Evgenia Vukkert (soprano) and Antonino Siragusa (tenor) will take to the stage.

The show will begin even before the official debut: on Thursday 26 June, the dress rehearsal of Carmina Burana will be open to the public and will turn into a special event. On the occasion of the “Notte del Triplete” organized by Dinamo Sassari, which will begin at 9 pm in the same setting of Piazza d'Italia, a surprise is expected that will merge music and sport, celebrating one of the most exciting moments in the recent history of the club and the city.

On July 1st, the " Carmina Burana " will stop in Alghero at the Arena del Porto , near the customs dock. Inaugurating a new reality for major events in Sardinia that is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation and Ente de Carolis. The tradition of the Ente thus meets the territory of one of the most important tourist centers in northern Sardinia, laying the foundations for a project designed to further expand the cultural offering of the Island. The advance sales that began in recent days are obtaining results beyond all expectations, a sign that this type of cultural offering is in line with the expectations of the public.

On July 10 and 12, we will return to Piazza d'Italia for the grand finale with one of the most beloved operas by the public, Madama Butterfly , which will see the great return to Sassari of the internationally renowned Sardinian tenor Francesco Demuro who, after the great success of Werther at the Comunale, will debut in the role of Pinkerton during Butterfly in the square. Alongside Demuro, a cast composed of other internationally renowned performers will play Cio Cio San, another star of the operatic firmament, currently among the reference sopranos for the role of Butterfly, Vittoria Yeo. In the role of Sharpless, Fabian Veloz. The chorus will be conducted by Francesca Tosi. After the great public and critical acclaim with “Pagliacci” and “Otello”, this year too, Sergio Oliva will conduct the orchestra of the Sassari theater. The direction and the scenes of the new production of the Ente will be curated by the director of the de Carolis Alberto Gazale, also highly appreciated for the recent direction of “Giselle Around le Villi” which obtained excellent acclaim in the national premiere at the Teatro del Giglio-Puccini in Lucca and at the municipal theater of Sassari.
