The fifteenth edition of the National Day of Mines has an exceptional protagonist, the mine which 80 years ago represented the locomotive of Italy: in fact, the Coal Museum participates in the event, at the Great Mine of Serbariu with a focus on one of the most characteristic aspects, the light.

Today and tomorrow the cultural site, reborn about 20 years ago with a huge investment after decades of abandonment, will be available to visitors in a special way and as a preview of the approaching summer tourist season.

Dedicated guided tours are scheduled on both days, with a special insight into the history of lighting in the mine. "Appointments absolutely not to be missed - warns the Councilor for Culture Giorgia Meli - to recall and remember the mining origins of Carbonia and beyond, and all the emotional, social and economic experience that follows".

Helmets, headlights, torches: they are not only work objects, but in the depths of the earth where thousands of miners have quarried coal, they represented a precious life-saving ally.
