The grassroots school unions in the Regional Council, Soru: «We are working on a framework law»
The PD councilor: «I hope that also through a modification of the Statute and all the implementing rules that we need, we can intervene on the work of teachers and on the precariousness situation»Il servizio di Stefano Fioretti
"We are working on a framework law on Sardinian schools, which takes into account the territorial, cultural and linguistic peculiarities of Sardinia. And which incorporates all the requests coming from those who live the school, such as teaching and non-teaching staff, families and students".
Camilla Soru, president of the Regional Council's Public Education Commission, said this at the end of the hearing of the Cobas trade union movement and other grassroots organizations: Esp educazione senza prezzo, Precari sardi in cathedra and Coordinamento idonei escluso.
For the president, who recalled how the commission has "already involved the University of Cagliari and the Agnelli Foundation", now is the time to "involve all the school stakeholders. Trying to collect all the requests to then present to those who will actually give us a hand in drafting a draft".
The Democratic councilor continued: «I hope that also through a modification of the Statute and all the implementing rules that we need, we will be able to intervene on the work of teachers and on the precarious employment situation».
There are good practices "already underway - Soru recalls - such as the Autonomous Province of Trento, one of the most virtuous realities, where there is even a dedicated teacher recruitment system".
During the hearing, Riccardo Berutti (Esp) denounced «the trade in diplomas, also linked to paid courses, at private and also public universities, which qualify for teaching». Then he added: «First of all, we must be clear about what the problems of the school are» and for this reason he urged the convocation of the «general states of education in Sardinia» while at the same time urging the stabilization of all precarious Sardinian teachers.
For Ornella Demuru (Precari sardi in cathedra) «a framework law is also necessary to combat school mergers: every school that closes is a cultural stronghold that dies». Demuru also asked that «Sardinian language and culture be compulsory subjects in Sardinian school programs, out of respect for the identity and dignity of Sardinians as well as constitutional principles».
From Cobas school Andrea De Giorgio denounced the situation of precarious workers, "about 300 thousand in Italy and more than 10 thousand in Sardinia. We ask for a commitment to the training of the teaching class and to guarantee an inclusive school".
