Goodbye to Spid?

It is the hypothesis that is circulating in these hours, in light of the now expired agreements between the Government and the companies that provide the digital identity service .

The deadline for renegotiating an agreement is the month of April and, if an agreement is not found, the service provided with the Spid procedure - designed to allow easier access to sites that provide more - would in fact be cancelled, but it is not clear how and if it will be replaced.

According to what has been learned in recent days, a meeting was held between the Agency for digital Italy and the eleven companies authorized to issue Spid credentials.

The latter would have asked the State for more money (we are talking about 50 million euros) to manage and provide the service, due to the increase in costs, as well as to be called into question if the Government decides not to renew the agreements to replace the Spid system with another digital identity service.
