It is the new idea of the Municipal Council of Mandas and in particular of its mayor Umberto Oppus : to establish the Historical Train Foundation of Sardinia , with the aim of giving a new impetus to cultural tourism linked to sustainable mobility and the enhancement of internal areas, rediscovering the value of historic trains, between identity and landscape.

Thursday 6 April, at 10.30 in the town hall of Mandas, there will be a meeting of the mayors of the Municipalities headquarters of the Trenino Verde , i.e. the historic train of Sardinia. The president of Anci Sardegna Emiliano Deiana was invited to participate, considering the importance assumed on various occasions by the association in the promotion of initiatives and projects, linked to the growth and tourist development of the island's municipalities.

The agenda includes: the signing of an agreement between the railway Municipalities to request, in the forthcoming discussion in the Regional Council (time scheduled for mid-April), the establishment of the Fondazione Treno Storico della Sardegna with a fundamental role to be recognized local authorities wings; the signature but of an agreement between the mayors to ask the Region for the transfer to the Municipalities of Stations, roadman's offices and former railway land not functional for operation for an integrated Project for the enhancement of the railway heritage; L to discussion on the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) intended for the enhancement of the historic lines.

" 62 million euros have been allocated", says Mayor Oppus, "we intend to ask the Region to undertake to solicit the national government to obtain the other 160 million euros functional to the arrangement of all the lines".
