The Euroleague, the "Champions League" of basketball, returns to Cagliari. Today and tomorrow, the PalaPirastu hosts the sixteenth edition of the "City of Cagliari" International Tournament, featuring four top teams and several European basketball big names .
It starts this afternoon at 6pm (live on Videolina from 5.45pm with commentary by Andrea Sechi and Antonello Restivo ) with the semi-final between Maxima Roma and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Coach Cotelli's team from the capital will be taking one of the very first steps in their history: the club, born this summer from the ashes of Germani Brescia, will field, among others, former Dinamo player Miro Bilan, former Serie A MVP. It remains to be seen whether Francesco Totti, recently appointed advisor, will also appear at the PalaPirastu. Facing them will be a Hapoel team built to carve out a leading role in the upcoming Euroleague. On the bench sits one of the most accomplished coaches in continental basketball, Greek Dimitris Itoudis, while on the court there is no shortage of top names, including former Olimpia Milano player Zach LeDay and, most importantly, Serbian Vasilije Micic, a two-time Euroleague champion and the competition's MVP in 2021.
At 8:30 PM, it's Bayern Munich and Asvel Villeurbanne's turn. The Germans recently inaugurated a new era by appointing young Anton Gavel as coach, while on the French side, Tony Parker stands out: the legendary San Antonio Spurs point guard currently holds the dual role of president and coach. The two finals are scheduled for tomorrow, again at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM, both broadcast live on Videolina.
