Antonio Caprarica returns to Porto Cervo , a guest of Porto Cervo Libri. The renowned Apulian journalist, longtime RAI correspondent in London, and author of over 30 essays , many of which are dedicated to the British royal family, of which he is one of the world's leading experts, will be the featured guest at the cultural event organized by the Consorzio Costa Smeralda on Monday, July 28th.
On this occasion, Caprarica , who will be performing his latest literary work entitled “Kate and the Curse of Wales” in the central square of Porto Cervo, starting at 7:30 pm, will be interviewed by his colleague from “Porta a Porta” Maria Cristina Bigongiali.
The evening will focus on the curse that hangs over the Princes and Princesses of Wales, which is the subject of the book: as a beloved chronicler of the English royal family, Caprarica takes a journey through time to see the many manifestations of bad luck that seem to envelop the holders of the Welsh title.
The origins of this sinister legend may date back to the late 13th century, with the anathema cast by the last Welsh king, defeated and killed by Edward I, who thus handed the region's crown to his heir: the first of the conquerors to bear the title, and the first to meet a cruel and shameful end. The journey will traverse history, passing through equally wretched princes and princesses, from Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIII to Diana and Charles, and finally arriving at Kate Middleton.
Retracing the steps of the bourgeois princess within the Windsor family, the author recounts her difficult years, amidst the snobbery of the aristocracy, Queen Elizabeth's initial mistrust, the conflict with the Sussexes (and in particular with Meghan) and the fight against cancer, beyond fake news and speculation.
