They work together with the De Carolis opera house, but this time they're performing as an instrumental duo. Francesca Tosi, in addition to being the stage director and choir director for the Sassari opera house, is also a talented pianist and will perform alongside violinist Michelangelo Lentini. The performance, part of the "Wednesdays at the Conservatory" series, promoted by Canepa di Sassari, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00 PM in the Sala Sassu.
The evening will open with Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major, Op. 24, "Spring," one of the most celebrated and luminous pieces in the violin repertoire. This will be followed by Johannes Brahms's Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor, Op. 108, a work of strong dramatic tension and profound lyrical richness. The concert will close with Alfred Schnittke's Suite in the Old Style, a composition that reinterprets forms and atmospheres of the past through a twentieth-century musical sensibility.
Michelangelo Lentini from Bari will play the 1795 “Guadagnini-Strehler” violin, entrusted to him by Mrs. Jonasson Strehler.
