He is considered one of the pioneers of musical minimalism together with John Cage and Philip Glass. The concert scheduled for the Sassari Conservatory festival is dedicated to the American composer Steve Reich. The appointment has been brought forward to Monday 2 October, but still in Sala Sassu starting at 7pm. Entrance is free.

The protagonist is the Canepa percussion ensemble, made up of students of the first and second level academic courses prepared by the teacher Roberto Migoni.

It will be a sort of early happy birthday, given that the next day Steve Reich turns 87. The American composer won two Grammy Awards, the 2009 Pulitzer Prize and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2014 Venice Music Biennale, awarded for the first time to a non-European artist.

The program for Monday's concert includes Drumming, part one for four pairs of pitched bongos, Nagoya marimbas for two marimbas, Marimba phase for two marimbas and Mallet Quartet for two vibraphones and two marimbas, all by Steve Reich. On the stage of the Sassu hall, Matteo Cambiganu, Irene Carbone, Alessandro Catuogno, Silvia Cossu, Gabriele Desole, Nicola Masala and Federico Pintus will take turns, students with different educational experiences behind them but already collaborators of various chamber and orchestral groups.
