The "Social Network - Community Visions" project, promoted by the Cittadini del Mondo Odv association and supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna, was presented in Cagliari.
The project stems from over twenty years of experience gained by the association in the fields of hospitality, solidarity, cooperation, and social storytelling. The goal is to "strengthen community ties and enhance the image of a welcoming, supportive Sardinia, open to dialogue with the world."
The promoters state that the initiative's core focus will be the language of documentary and video storytelling , used to bring to the public's attention stories of migration, reception, care work, disability, interfaith dialogue, environmental emergencies, and community transformation. A specific space will also be dedicated to the experiences and choices of younger generations, including departures, returns, and new ways of maintaining and building a relationship with Sardinia.
The initiative involves 64 partners, with a core group of 26 Sardinian municipalities, four universities, 14 associations, 11 Sardinian emigration clubs, three federations, a high school, and an Italian honorary consulate. The network extends from small towns, inland areas, and cities in Sardinia to Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Tuscany, Lazio, and Campania, before crossing national borders to reach Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Argentina.
"The goal," a statement reads, "is to foster the exchange of experiences and best practices and build stable collaboration between government agencies, associations, universities, migrant communities, and volunteer organizations."
Among the planned activities is "Community Screens," a traveling series of screenings and public meetings centered on Sardinia's small communities, which will also tour other Italian regions and abroad. The production of a social documentary and the expansion of accessibility to audiovisual materials already produced in past years are also planned, becoming an integral part of the new project.
