Also this year in Gesico the ancient vow linked to San Sebastiano Martire was fulfilled , a solemn promise born as protection against the plague and documented with certainty at least since 1592. It was the magnificent rector Juan Francisco Gessa who introduced the vow and had a small church built in honour of the saint on the slopes of the nuraghe of the same name, a place which still today represents an identity and spiritual reference for the community.
The festival , promoted by the Parish of Santa Giusta and the Municipality of Gesico, with the collaboration of the Civil Protection of Gesico and Senorbì and the Pro Loco (local tourist board), had to contend with bad weather that forced its postponement for over twenty days . Finally, however, the weather cleared up, and the town responded with perhaps greater attendance than expected. "An intense and evocative evening, capable of achieving all the objectives set by the organizers , including that of 'Su Cumbidu,' which was welcomed with great satisfaction," says Pro Loco president Carlo Carta.
The Mass celebrated by parish priest Don Davide Pau was particularly heartfelt, enhanced by the launeddas of Sandro Frau and Massimo Atzori , the guitar of Paolo Manca , and the accordion of Edoardo Manca . It was a moment of profound reflection that once again demonstrated the profound devotion of the community of this small Trexenta town to the holy martyr. The traditional "Su Foghidoni," the supreme expression of this centuries-old bond, sealed a well-attended and meaningful celebration.
