"A political clarification is needed, in the open." Opposition group leaders Paolo Truzzu, Angelo Cocciu, Umberto Ticca, Antonello Peru, and Stefano Schirru urged President Alessandra Todde to report to the Regional Council on developments in the matter of appointing local health authority (ASL) leaders.

"The dual absence of Democratic Party councilors, including the regional vice president, from the Regional Council meetings is beyond the bounds of normal allied debate. Even more so if the reason is the one expressed by regional secretary Silvio Lai, namely the 'legal uncertainty' surrounding the president's decisions," they note in a statement.

For the center-right, "this confirms that the broad camp is merely an electoral cartel, a political majority only in numbers, so far, but not in ideas. Moreover, the Democratic Party cannot absolve itself of its responsibilities simply by abstaining. For two months, Sardinia has been without a health commissioner, the person responsible for half the regional budget and the health of Sardinians. The crisis is certainly administrative to the extent that decisions that conflict with the law, the Constitution, and the rulings of the Constitutional Court and administrative judges persist, exposing the Region to a barrage of compensation payments that, along with the consultancy commissioned by the presidency to defend positions, not a political direction, will weigh on the public coffers. We asked in vain for the president to speak in the chamber during the last meeting of the Regional Council, but the majority clammed up."

"We understand the embarrassment and the need to hold an internal discussion first, but Sardinia cannot wait, especially when it comes to healthcare and the health of Sardinians is at stake," the opposition continues. "Those who use the word transparency as if it were a catchphrase to flatter themselves should try to put it into practice and tell the Sardinians if there is a majority with shared programs and actions," the group leaders declare.
