Appeal of Jamal Khashoggi's girlfriend to Justin Bieber: “Boycott the concert in Jeddah”, asks the pop to stay Hatice Cengiz, activist and girlfriend of the Washington Post journalist killed three years ago in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

The Canadian singer is expected to perform at the concert to be held on December 5 at the end of the Formula One Grand Prix, which debuts in Saudi Arabia.

"A little more than three years ago my boyfriend entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul thinking of collecting some documents necessary for our marriage, but he was assassinated on the orders of Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman," writes the woman.

"Since then - he adds - many organizations and individuals for the defense of human rights, myself included, have been calling for justice. For this reason I ask you to cancel your performance", it is a unique opportunity to send a strong message to the world that your your name and your talent will not be used to restore the reputation of a regime that kills its opponents ”.

On the circumstances of Khashoggi's murder, Cengiz underlines, "there are no doubts". He notes that "a UN investigation has defined the murder as an international crime for which Saudi Arabia is responsible" and that "even US intelligence has blamed the crown prince".

"I know you are dedicated to your fans and are going to Saudi Arabia for them, but there are hundreds of Saudis in prison, punished for simply expressing their opposition to the prince's ruthless dictatorship," the open letter reads again.

Finally: "Do not sing for the killers of my beloved Jamal. Please speak and condemn his killer, Mohammed bin Salman. Your voice will be heard by millions."
