Presented this evening at the Grande Mine of Serbariu, the anastatic reprint of the 1871 Report by Deputy Quintino Sella on the "conditions of the mining industry on the island of Sardinia", is the first reprint accompanied by the atlas.
As part of the National Mining Day 2024, the Association of Friends of the Carbon Mine, in collaboration with the Mining Association of Iglesias, the Association of Mining Experts of Iglesias, the Association of Miners and Memory of Iglesias, the Association of Miners Nebida ONLUSS, the CSC of the Humanitarian Society of Carbonia, the Sa Mena Association of Guspini, the History and Roots Association of the City of Carbonia, the Bacu Abis and Sulcis Iglesiente Cultural Association, the Pozzo Sella Association, the CICC Coal Museum of Carbonia , have an evening for the presentation of the anastatic reprint publication of the Sella Report with the attached Atlas.
The presentation conference, held in the room of the Sbis Local History Section housed in the room of the former mechanical workshops of the Serbariu mine, saw a succession of interventions: "Today's day", said the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Park Elisabetta Castelli , «it is important not only for the publication reproduced in full but above all for the network of relationships of associations that we managed to put in place for this occasion. We are happy that this initiative is taking place under the highest auspices of the Park."
Also present was the regional councilor for Culture Ilaria Portas: «We need to tell the story and preserve it for the future», said the councilor in her speech, «we need to be able to tell it and make it interesting for the new generations».
The publication was created on the proposal of the Amici della Miniera di Carbonia association with the economic patronage of the Geo Minerario Park of Sardinia, of the Sardinia Foundation and the technical contribution of the CSC Umanitaria Carbonia/Iglesias, it is not for sale, and is intended for particular way to public libraries throughout Sardinia, being the final report of the Commission of Inquiry which, since 1871, has contributed to the reorganization and modernization of the Sardinian mining industry.
