The 62nd Alghero-Scala Piccada was presented today, the hill climb organized by the Automobile Club Sassari with the support of the Municipality, the Sardinia Region, the Regional Department of Sport and the Alghero Foundation which will be valid for the Italian Speed Championship North and South with a coefficient increased to 1.5.

There are 91 registered drivers, including the protagonists of the top championship, the Supersalita. Highly anticipated are Simone Faggioli and Franco Caruso, both on Nova Proto Np01-2, Diego Degasperi from Trentino (Norma M20 Fc Zytek), Luigi Fazzino from Sicily (Osella PA 30), Achille Lombardi (Osella PA 21 4C) and Samuele Cassibba (Nova Proto NP Sinergy V8). The Sardinian group will be led by Sergio Farris from Alghero (Wolf GB 08 Thunder) and Fabio Angioj (Osella Pa21), who will be joined by Giuseppe Vacca from Olbia and Marco Satta from Sulcis. The race will award the “Ottavio Secchi Prize” to the veteran driver of the Scala Piccada who passed away two years ago. The family has provided for the reimbursement of the entry fee to the youngest and longest-serving driver classified.

The event, directed by Fabrizio Fondacci, will be run along the 5100-meter track created along the State Road 292 and the program includes the two test runs on Saturday 28, starting at 9, and the two race runs on Sunday 29, from 9 onwards. The entire weekend will be broadcast live in streaming and on Aci Sport Tv.

Comments. “We wanted to bring the sporting event to the center of the city of which it is an icon and for this reason we chose Piazzale della Pace as the location of the paddock and for the various events that will be held there”, declared the president of Ac Sassari, Giulio Pes di San Vittorio. “Thanks to all the partners, with whom the interaction is intense and effective, we have invested in the race looking to the future and focusing on an exciting and completely safe show, an aspect for which we are grateful to the race management, the race officials and in particular to the Police. We remember that sport is respect for the rules”.

“For the city of Alghero, the competition that continues to evolve thanks to Ac Sassari, is a historic event,” said Deputy Mayor Francesco Marinaro. “We all grew up with the excitement of racing cars towards the Scala Piccada and everyone has a memory or anecdote related to the race, which means exaltation of the territory, naturally according to the expected safety standards.”

Race director Fabrizio Fondacci spoke about safety: “Every rule must be followed, such as the instructions given by the Race Officials and the Police”. There are 33 stations on the route plus the start and finish, with 108 Course Marshals at their disposal, 103 fire extinguishers, 4 type A ambulances equipped for resuscitation with as many doctors expert in resuscitation maneuvers, a fast Medical Car for the Extrication Team with an extrication doctor, a Safety Car, 3 tow trucks, a vehicle equipped for route restoration interventions, a sweeper, 2 vehicles with hydraulic clamps – Decarceration/Firefighting Team and 5 rapid recovery off-road vehicles.

Rally. The spectacular motoring autumn will offer, on the weekend of 4-5 October, another eagerly awaited event: the 12th Rally Terra Sarda. The event, which will have its headquarters in Porto Cervo, will be valid as the last round of the Ter Series, the penultimate round of the Ter (Tour European Rally) and the Coppa Rally di Zona 10, as well as the Regional Championship. The organizing team Porto Cervo Racing announced today the extension until Monday 30 September of the deadline to complete registrations for the Rally Moderno. The closing date for registrations for the 4th Rally Terra Sarda Storico, the final round of the Ter Historic and a round of the Regional Championship, has been confirmed at 30 September.

Slalom. In the meantime, registrations have also opened, and will remain open until October 9, for the 9th Slalom Città di Dorgali (Cala Gonone-Galleria) - 2nd Memorial Gianfranco Corrias. The event organized by Autosport Dorgali, which will take place on October 12-13, will be the penultimate round of the Trofeo d'Italia Nord, the last of the Coppa di Zona 2 and for the Regional Championship.

“Sporting events are an important tool for promoting the territory,” commented Bernardo Carotti, sports councilor for the Municipality of Dorgali, “especially if they are seasonal and animate the territory even during shoulder periods, less frequented by tourists.
