"We are speaking with the Region of Sardinia and we are awaiting the new call which will be more complete".

This was stated by the CEO of Ita Airways, Fabio Lazzerini, when asked about territorial continuity during the hearing at the Transport Commission of the Chamber.

"There is an open dialogue between Ita and the Region to structurally overcome this continuous scheme of calls for territorial continuity, ensuring a more competitive solution in the long term", he added

Speaking of the issue of minor connections, he then stated: "Some territories are not part of the plan with which the company started. However, we are evaluating the possibility either directly or through alliances to be able to offer connections also to minor territories which are for Ita. functional to increase the ability to attract traffic at Fiumicino airport, by 'feedering': it is necessary to find an economically satisfactory way to do so. In the jargon they are called 'subtle routes' ".

As regards Malpensa, the CEO said he was "aware" of the importance of the Milanese airport and confirmed the launch of the Malpensa-NY Jfk section for the summer season, but "the size of Ita is linked to the size of the market that they push us to focus on the Fiumicino hub in order not to waste energy ".
