It's called the Opera Commission, and for the first time it brings together parliament and industry professionals—from singers to musicians, from conductors to technicians—in direct dialogue.
The commission was established by direct nomination of Alessandro Caramiello, president of the Southern Development Parliamentary Intergroup. Tommaso Scattolari, director of Opera24.it and author of a series of books on opera, was appointed president.
There are two vice presidents: soprano Serena Gamberoni and baritone Alberto Gazale from Sassari, artistic director of the Marialisa de Carolis institution.
The official presentation of the project is scheduled for March 26 at 5:30 pm in Rome at the Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies.
"I see the creation of this commission," says Alberto Gazale, "as an important signal because it restores an active and qualified presence to a sector—opera, dance, and symphony—which represents a fundamental part of Italian cultural identity but today requires greater attention. This task entrusted to me comes at a crucial time, on the eve of the reform of the Entertainment Code, the regulatory framework governing the live entertainment system in Italy, which will be subject to updates and legislative changes in the coming months ."
