Cagliari will soon have a large new facility for indoor events ("the best ever built") but above all it will be able to boast an annual tennis tournament "equivalent to the ATP 250 and the concrete possibility of having some of the best players in the world".

Angelo Binaghi announces important news, well supported by the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu in terms of sports facilities, during the presentation of the 2nd Category Men's Italian Championships, whose main draw starts on Monday at the Monte Urpinu Tennis Club .

The president recalled the importance of the event that has been back in Cagliari for five years and which follows the one just concluded in Quartu for the Third Category: "The figures say that for the interest in the results and for the number of players, tennis is second in Italy only to football and thanks to the padel the gap is decreasing, while the gap on basketball, volleyball and swimming is increasing. This is the main championship of our sport, the one in which all those who are outside the international logic aspire to participate, so I consider it the most important sporting event of the year in Sardinia ”.

The v ice president of Tc Cagliari, Lamberto Corda, did the honors at the presentation. The qualifiers have already begun, with a total of 99 players registered.
