A birthday and an important milestone for the nine Municipalities of Trexenta and Sarcidano which since last year have joined together in the circuit together with the Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari and Oristano, which acts as a guide in all the promotion of the event. The town of Gergei will open the event for the 2023 edition on 29 October . Followed by Selegas on November 5th and Serri on November 12th, Siurgus Donigala on November 19th and Gesico on November 26th. In December it's Suelli's turn on the 3rd, Guasila on the 8th, Mandas on the 17th and the event ends in Nurri on the 23rd December.
The demonstration was born ten years ago as a food and wine event aimed at promoting local products. Over the years and through each edition, this initiative has achieved extraordinary results in successfully promoting the entire geographical area represented by the participating municipalities. It has also made it possible to make all its riches known at a national and international level, whether tangible or intangible: from popular holidays and traditions, to the profound devotional value, the recipes of typical dishes that have been handed down for generations, the festivals, and much more .
Furthermore, and certainly not a marginal but decisive aspect, it was thus possible to induce visitors to return to these places. Saboris Antigus, therefore, is not just a series of nine annual events. It is an ambitious project that has the power to attract tourism to this internal area of the island at any time of the year, managing to enchant the visitor beyond the festive days. For an operation of this magnitude, the support of the Chamber of Commerce was fundamental, as it was able to manage all operations uniformly, thanks to its expertise in promoting festival circuits and excellent local products, ensuring single-brand communication , integrated and distinguishable over time, in which to identify an entire territory and an extended community made up in this case of nine small towns. For this year's edition, events were designed to further emphasize the concept of hospitality and the family dimension, through new hospitality formulas such as the Home Restaurant and the Grandparents and Family Oases.
Some of the Municipalities of the Saboris Antigus circuit will experiment with this new type of experience within the event, guaranteeing some seats at the table (by reservation) inside the private homes of citizens. The table and the convivial moment become the powerful means to narrate one's ancient story. During lunch, in addition to delicious traditional dishes, for an experiential and tasteful moment, the doors open to total involvement. A perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in stories that are lost in the mists of time, some rooted in historical reality, others - no less important - legendary and fabulous, often told by adults to children in front of the fireplace.
Visitors will meet Saints with fruits twisted in their hands and rosaries made of pasta and baked together with bread: the tradition of "Su Sessineddu" by Gergei, a true unicum, not only in Italy or Europe, but perhaps in the entire world , and dedicated to San Biagio. A rite with a propitiatory character during which the Saint is asked for special protection against the ailments of winter. And it is precisely from this desire to give the visitor the opportunity to delve into the local culture that the need to open the ancient homes and churches, make the archaeological sites accessible, animate the historic centers with artisans and hobbyists and with practical demonstrations of their work arises. , together with the possibility of displaying and selling their creations. All this without ever neglecting the heart of the event, which remains the food and wine event, and the promotion of typical products and local excellences. In fact, each Municipality, through tastings, will try to present and enhance its typical dishes.
An event of this size could not fail to include the Oasis for grandparents and families : spaces designed to offer the elderly moments of serenity and rest. While the Family Oasis of Saboris Antigus 2023 will be a special corner dedicated to those who bring babies and young children who need assistance to the event. These are spaces clearly marked along the route and in the event brochures distributed during the event. Inside will be available the map of the town, the places of refreshment and points of interest, as well as the entire program of the day.
