“Tempomora” is the debut album by Sardinian singer-songwriter Alice Marras , which will be presented as a live preview on Saturday, June 27th at 9:15 pm at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari.
Recorded in Cagliari at Jane Studio, the work was co-produced by Marti Jane Robertson, who also handled the mixing and mastering, and recounts ten years of life lived between Italy and England, through 11 tracks in three languages: Italian, English and Sardinian.
“Tempomora” is released on vinyl and is an album in which the song format opens up to profound contaminations, moving between refined pop, jazz veins and singer-songwriter tradition.
On the stage of the M2 room of the Teatro Massimo on Saturday 27 June at 9.15 pm , Alice Marras will be joined by an exceptional lineup: Fulvio Sigurtà, one of the most appreciated soloists in international contemporary jazz, on trumpet and flugelhorn, Riccardo Galardini, a long-time collaborator of Ivano Fossati, on guitar, Daniele Russo on drums, Sebastiano Dessanay on double bass, Gigi Marras on recorder and Andrea Granitzio on keyboards, a string quintet and six backing vocalists.
The concert will feature a rare and evocative moment: Pinuccio Sciola's sound stones will be played on stage by his daughter Maria Sciola, guardian of the Sardinian sculptor's artistic legacy.
"Tempomora is a chronological map of my life, a musical timeline of my memories and the many versions of me that have taken turns over the years," Alice explains. "Tempomora is a play on words: it describes the weight of the past and what we leave unfinished or wait to do. It describes the unavoidable deadlines we have with ourselves and their impact on our present."
Her song "Il meglio di me" has been available on Apple Music and Spotify since March. Alice Marras, a Sardinian singer and composer, graduated in music and composition from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, a historic school of contemporary music in the United Kingdom.
An artistic vocalist and modern singing teacher, Alice Marras has performed at major regional music festivals, such as European Jazz Expo, Dromos Festival, Creuza de Mà, and Forma e Poesia nel Jazz, over 20 years of experience. She has contributed to soundtracks for RAI TV programs and has performed internationally in England and Ireland with Irish singer-songwriter Don Mescall (who wrote for Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Corrs, Mike Reid, Gary Brooker, and others).
She also participated as a solo singer with the quintet “Sardinia-crossing jazz ensemble” in numerous concerts held in Italian cultural institutes around the world (IIC London, Prague, Tirana – Scutari, etc.) and at the Kusadasi jazz festival – Turkey.
He participated in the recording of the lullaby “Due Cuori – Andimironnai,” a project to internationalize Sardinia's cultural identity that also included the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, Israeli singer Noa, and trumpeter Paolo Fresu.
