As the curtain opened, the undisputed star of the two evening events, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September , was her: music. Orchestra conductors, accompanied by their instruments capable of casting a spell. At the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari , the evenings inaugurated the 2024/25 concert season: the end of summer was greeted by the welcome return to the podium of conductor Alevtina Ioffe , leading the Orchestra and Choir.

The show was a tribute to the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky with the performance of the Symphony of Psalms for choir and orchestra and to the German composer Richard Strauss with Till Eulenspiegel Iustige Streiche, op. 28 and Der Rosenkavalier Suite, op. 59. The young Conductor Alevtina Ioffe, the first Russian woman to be entrusted with the responsibility of a theater, the Mikhailovsky in St. Petersburg, returned to Cagliari after the concerts conducted in June 2023 and last May.

«I love Cagliari, I love Sardinia and I feel great working with the Teatro Liric or », enthusiastic words from conductor Ioffe, one of the most interesting female figures in orchestral conducting to emerge in recent years. The musical program of the evenings offered an encounter between notes, in a passionate emotional vortex. The music narrated, through strings and wind instruments, infinite stories, the symphony accelerated the pathos and the choir gave tonality in a growing force, overwhelming all expectations. The voices alternated sweetness with impetus, the harmony of the instruments bewitched the audience in the hall, nothing could distract from so much melodic beauty.

The concert, lasting about an hour and a quarter, with only a 15-minute break, confirmed the high expectations: the protagonists of the immense artistic performance were, without hesitation, the polyphonic and monodic instruments united in a perfect acoustic balance with the ability to highlight the refinement of the sound games and contrasts. Piano, cello, violins, harp, clarinets, flutes, saxophone, double bass, are just some of the components of the orchestra that allowed the large audience in the stalls and in the gallery to appreciate a perfect performance on both dates.

An audience of various generations applauded emphatically the conductors and the Director, just as the classical melodies were interpreted with extreme passion by young and older professionals: to testify that music unites and involves every age.

The next appointments with the concert section of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari are scheduled for Friday 4 October (8.30 pm) and Saturday 5 October (7 pm) with the voices of the Teatro Lirico Choir directed by Giovanni Andreoli .
