In Gallura, everything is ready for the 36th Tavolara Film Festival. From Tuesday to Sunday, between San Teodoro, Porto San Paolo, and the island of Tavolara, "A Night in Italy" returns with an edition packed with screenings, guests, and audience talks. The festival will be hosted by Neri Marcorè, actress Ludovica Nasti, presenter and hostess, and journalist Alessandra Magliaro.
An exceptional edition, dedicated to cinema and literature. The section dedicated to writers and book presentations, curated by Severino Salvemini, represents one of the main new features of 2026: the festival, sponsored by the Argonauti Association, will kick off on Tuesday, July 14th at La Peschiera in San Teodoro with Marcello Fois, who will present his book "L'impero distrazione" (Einaudi) at 8:00 pm. This will be followed (9:30 pm) by a screening of "Quasi Grazia" by Peter Marcias, based on Fois's book of the same name about the Sardinian writer Grazia Deledda. Irene Maiorino, who plays the young Nobel Prize winner in the film, will be in attendance.
On Wednesday the 15th, again at La Peschiera, "Su Maistu" will be presented, a film by Gianfranco Cabiddu, who will accompany the opera at the festival, paying homage to Luigi Lai, an extraordinary Sardinian musician and launeddas virtuoso. On Thursday the 16th, in Porto San Paolo's Piazza Gramsci, "Tienimi Presente" will be presented, directed by Alberto Palmiero, who will tell the audience about his work and the journey that led to the creation of the film, which tells the story of a young aspiring director.
On Friday, July 17, the event will land on the island of Tavolara for a screening of the film inspired by the story of Willy Monteiro Duarte, "40 Seconds," by Vincenzo Alfieri. Alfieri will be in attendance, along with one of the lead actors, Enrico Borello. On Saturday, the 18th, at 8:00 PM, Orso Tosco, one of the most interesting authors of contemporary Italian noir, will present his novel "La melancholia del tartufo" (Rizzoli). At 9:30 PM, the short film "Il viaggio di Matteo" by Laura Moretto will be screened, followed immediately after by "La salita," Massimiliano Gallo's feature-length directorial debut. Actress Roberta Caronia will be the evening's guest.
The curtain falls on cinema at Tavolara on Sunday, July 19th with the final evening, which at 8 pm will feature the third meeting dedicated to literature, with Christian Raimo, who will present "The Invention of Color" (La nave di Teseo), and from 9:30 pm, screenings of the short film "Absolutio" by Mirko Decandia and "Gioia mia," the debut film by director Margherita Spampinato.
Alongside screenings and meetings, the festival will host two exhibitions: from July 14th to 22nd in Porto San Paolo, in Piazza Gramsci, the exhibition "CliCiak 2026" will be held, while in San Teodoro, in the spaces of the tourist office, "La terrazza" will be open, an exhibition dedicated to the images of Paul Ronald, set photographer for Federico Fellini, Ettore Scola, and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
