Football world in mourning for the death of Carlo Tavecchio.

The former FIGC president would have turned 80 next July.

He had resigned from the leadership of the Italian Football Federation after the national team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and had returned to lead the National Amateur League of Lombardy, his homeland.

During his tenure there was no lack of controversy, such as those that erupted following his statements about non-EU footballers at the National Amateur League which earned him accusations of racism.
