He beat his father after he attacked his mother in front of their young daughter. But for that incident, Luca Tegas was acquitted by the Cagliari Court of Appeal on grounds of self-defense, overturning the first-instance sentence that had sentenced him to one year in prison.
The proceedings against the 36-year-old worker from Talana have thus concluded. The events date back to March 3, 2019. That day, while he was in Tortolì, the man received a phone call from his sister warning him of yet another assault perpetrated by his father against his mother, who, at the time, was also with her niece. Luca Tegas got into his car and drove to Talana. There, he found the front door of his parents' home damaged, as well as his mother's car.
As he was entering, he had gotten into a fight with his father, from whom he had managed to steal the stick and then, with the same tool, struck him back. In the first instance trial, in 2024, Judge Nicole Serra, while acknowledging all mitigating circumstances, sentenced him to one year in prison. In recent days, the sentence was overturned by the Court of Appeal (Claudia Belelli, presiding judge), which, accepting the arguments presented by attorney Marcello Caddori, acquitted the defendant on the grounds of self-defense.
