Golfo Aranci will host the Open Water Swimming World Cup. The event is scheduled for May 1st and 2nd.
A total of 136 athletes (77 men and 59 women) will participate in the 10km race, 23 more than in the previous edition and representing 26 nations.
In the men's competition, there's great anticipation for Greg Paltrinieri. He began the World Cup with a seventh-place finish in Egypt. Domenico Acerenza did better, finishing third. Marcello Guidi finished sixth in Soma Bay. Among the favorites is German Florian Wellbrock , who boasts a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics , three gold medals at the World Championships (Singapore 2025, Fukuoka 2023, Gwanju 2019), and triumphed in the first Egyptian stage ahead of Hungary's David Betlehem. The list of favorites also includes Kristóf Rasovszky, gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the 2024 World Championships in Doha, and the 2025 European Championships in Croatia in Stari Grad .
Among the women, watch out for Florence's Ginevra Taddeucci . Her lead could be challenged by Australian Moesha Johnson , who won the first stage and won both the 5 and 10 kilometers at Singapore 2025, while she took silver at Paris 2024.
