"The Sardinia Region appreciates the company's willingness to continue investing in the Portoscuso industrial site , reconverting production to open up to new markets, but renews the appeal not to stop the plants of the San Gavino Foundry and avoid new cash measures integration. We are asking for more time, waiting for the new government to take office and implement the tools necessary to calm energy prices, integrating the Energy Release Decree with a reserve for the major islands ".

This is the joint request of the councilors of Labor, Industry and Environmental Defense, Zedda, Pili and Lampis, to Glencore during the summit that was held this afternoon at the Ministry of Economic Development with the company, the social partners and employers, in the presence of the deputy minister of Mise, Alessandra Todde.

Portovesme Srl , says the Region, said it was ready to "reconvert the production of zinc and lead , reconditioning the plants to produce more attractive materials on the world market, useful for the production of new generation batteries". This "despite the difficulties due to the negative economic situation , which has caused huge losses in the last two years".

Glencore “would thus become the leading company in Europe , benefiting from consolidated facilities and an experienced, mature and specialized workforce. During the production transition phase, the Region made itself available to invest in the training of workers ”.

"The Portovesme industrial site has a strategic value at national level - the representatives of the Solinas executive reiterated - the regional administration is ready to negotiate with the new executive to recover the disadvantages due to the condition of insularity, a principle recognized today by the our Constitution. We protect human resources. Behind every worker there is a life plan and a family. We are ready to accompany workers with the most suitable social safety nets in a possible transition phase, and to support the company by investing in staff retraining ".
