Canceled flights and delays: the airport workers' strike is sending air transport on the island into a tailspin. For now, 17 flights have been canceled in Sardinian airports.

In Cagliari, Ita Airways canceled some connections under the territorial continuity regime, while EasyJet eliminated the routes to Geneva and Basel. The low cost airline also left passengers from Olbia-Milan stranded.

Also stopped was an Olbia-Linate flight by AeroItalia , which also canceled two Alghero-Rome flights. Volotea has canceled the Alghero-Verona.

The strike, initially lasting 24 hours, was reduced to 4 hours following the order of the Ministry of Transport . Handling workers, i.e. ground support workers involved in loading and unloading baggage, passenger check-ins and aircraft service, will stop from 1pm to 5pm . An employee sit-in has been underway at Cagliari airport since this morning.
