To give the series a conclusion worthy of the name, Netflix and the Duffer Brothers promise with the fifth season of “Stranger Things” a level of quality and content even higher than in past occasions. In fact, according to the latest revelations by Gaten Matarazzo to The Hollywood Reporter, the creators of the show are investing heart and soul to make this epilogue absolutely unforgettable.
Going into more detail on the narrative and production aspects, the young interpreter of Dustin since 2016 said the following: «Every season has grown in scale and message. This season is no different in any way, and we knew from the beginning that it was going to be huge. They warned us: it's going to be a whole year of shooting. And we thought: so yeah, we're aiming high».
Revealing his personal attachment to the TV series, Matarazzo said that filming the new episodes initially created great excitement. But the more time passed on the set, the more he grew saddened by the awareness that such a great and significant experience was coming to an end : "It's been an incredible decade, and to realize that it's all about to end is a little shocking." After nine years since its debut, "Stranger Things 5" is expected for all Netflix users within the next year. The promises of Matarazzo and the Duffers are joined by those of Barrie Gower, the designer and makeup artist remembered for creating the look of the monstrous Vecna, as well as for having taken part in TV series such as "Game of Thrones" and "The Last of Us." Speaking in an interview with Screen Rant, after discussing his recent involvement in the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Gower assures that the entire Stranger Things team is doing their best to further raise the bar and motivate the long wait before the release.
Among the fondest memories that have remained etched in the designer's memory was the collaboration with Jamie Campbell Bower, the British actor and singer who we see in the role of Vecna: "We are still very involved. The shooting is very long, I can say that, and I can't reveal anything obviously about the design or the look of Vecna. I can only say that it is a joy to be back. It is only the second time that we have worked on Stranger Things. We started with Season 4 but we are big fans of the Duffer brothers. We are also big fans of the cast and crew of Stranger Things. As for Jamie Campbell Bower, as always, it is a pleasure to work with him. It was nice to return to a character that we spent many hours working on in the fourth season and who never tires".
Offering a few brief considerations on the Duffer Brothers’ contribution, without however giving away too much, Gower then added: “All I can say, without giving away any spoilers, is that it’s an incredible story. It’s an incredible season, and I think the Duffers are definitely going to deliver what the fans want. I think it’s going to be exciting.” While we wait for more substantial details on “Stranger Things 5,” the two brothers are continuing to work as producers on a new project exclusively for Netflix. In the television drama “The Boroughs,” we will find a very different cast than the one hired for the 80s horror series, with big names like Alfred Molina and Jena Malone.
Putting science fiction at the center once again, we will witness the adventures of an unlikely band of heroes who band together to banish a threat from space. Of their new debut, the Duffers had this to say: "Even though the heroes of The Boroughs are a few years older than the kids in Stranger Things, they are an equally lovable bunch of misfits, and we can't wait for you to join them on an adventure that will be by turns scary, funny and deeply touching."
