Stop at the wind farms in the Sos Enattos area .

This is foreseen by an amendment to the Pnrr decree approved by the Senate Budget Committee. The rule, proposed by Northern League senators Claudio Borghi and Marco Dreosto at the urging of Sardinian deputy Dario Giagoni , provides for the blocking of projects involving economic activities, such as the installation of wind farms, even if already authorised, in areas where development is planned of projects included in the National Research Infrastructure Plan .

Which, put more simply, means the blocking of the two wind farms that would have hindered the process towards the construction of the Einstein Telescope in Sardinia.

The amendment secures research projects "which require, for the purposes of the relative construction or correct functioning of the infrastructures, the environmental preservation of the surrounding areas and territories, according to criteria of proximity, proportionality and precaution".

Furthermore, the Einstein Telescope is directly mentioned in the modification approved today and no authorization can be issued without the opinion of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics: " In order to allow the construction and full functioning of the Einstein Telescope - we read - , the additional titles enabling the exercise of economic activities are issued by the competent administrations in agreement with the Miur, having consulted the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (Infn) ».

Again: «The economic activities or the municipal territories can be modified, with a decree of the Miur and an opinion of the Infn, on the basis of objective needs connected with the preservation of the full functionality of the research infrastructure and the reduction of potential interference with it».

A provision requested in many voices by Sardinia, to adapt Sos Enattos to the competitor site of Limburg, where the authorities have imposed a stop to wind farms in a radius of 10 kilometers . Now that it has passed in committee, the provision will enter the Chamber of Palazzo Madama in an armored state and then for reading in the Chamber.

Satisfied Giagoni: «It is envisaged that projects relating to wind farms or similar interventions already authorized will be blocked in the areas where the development of projects financed wholly or partially with national and EU resources already present in the National Research Infrastructure Plan is envisaged, recognizing the validity of the Einstein Telescope program and making it a priority ,” he explains.

«Another significant step forward for ET», rejoices the Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini . «The wind farms would have represented an obstacle for its realization. The Einstein Telescope is a strategic infrastructure for the country and for international research, and with the approval of this amendment we are adding a further element to create an ecosystem favorable to Italy's candidacy ".
