Stop photovoltaic systems in agricultural fields .

This is provided for by the Government's agri-food decree , which should be examined by the Council of Ministers next Monday.

According to what Il Sole 24 Ore reports, in the draft of the decree, in article 6, we read that « the areas classified as agricultural by the current urban planning plans are areas not suitable for the installation of photovoltaic systems with modules placed on the ground referred to in the article 6-bis, letter b) of the legislative decree of 3 March 2011, n. 28. The authorization procedures underway on the date of entry into force of this decree are concluded in accordance with the previous legislation".

The decree is from the Ministry of Agriculture led by Francesco Lollobrigida , and according to the economic newspaper his colleague at the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin does not like it.

In the absence of criteria to identify suitable areas, the Sardinia Region with the newly formed Todde Council has approved an 18-month moratorium on all new plants (wind and photovoltaic), precisely to identify a map of areas in which to install them.

And the vice-president of the Chamber Fabio Rampelli indicates the Island among the examples of how necessary the rule included in Lollobrigida's legislative decree is: «The choice to inhibit the installation of photovoltaic parks in agricultural areas is a revolutionary and civilized choice not only in the wake of article 9 of the Constitution but also of agricultural and food sovereignty and independence. What we are seeing in many countries in Lazio, in Puglia, in Sardinia, Molise and Abruzzo demonstrates how left-wing environmentalism is hypocritical , false and counterproductive."

Italia Nostra also applauds a measure that can no longer be postponed, declares the national president Antonella Caroli. «All those who care about the precious agricultural production of our country - continues Caroli - have been able to observe with dismay the ignoble, disorderly and unopposed assault on the agricultural areas . An assault which, if it continued at the same rate, would lead to the upheaval of the business structures that laboriously keep the agricultural sector going, with devastating consequences for the economic stability of our nation."

Coldiretti also underlines that « to protect national agriculture we also need a decisive stop to wild photovoltaics , with the coverage of entire productive agricultural areas with hectares of ground-mounted panels. Plants often built by speculative investment funds and made possible by a regulatory wild west that derives from the absence of territorial governance rules. Coldiretti is not against renewables, as demonstrated by the strong participation in the Pnnr measure for photovoltaic systems on the roofs of stables and farmhouses".
