"Sardinia has enormous potential: it has a very high level of wine production, history, tradition and ties with the territory. For this reason it must, more and more, aim for quality". Words of Paolo Govoni, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Ferrara and Ravenna, who yesterday (August 24) spoke at the final evening of the Stintino Wine Festival. The event - organized in Pozzo San Nicola by Tenute Stintino and Alle Cantine - for two days (August 23 and 24) put the territory of North West Sardinia at the center with its producers "guardians" of the vines and, in many cases, of family traditions. And the final evening also recorded a high attendance of the public. In two days 1800 glasses were distributed and over 3500 tastings. And so Vermentino di Gallura, Vermentino di Sardegna, Cannonau, Moscato and Cagnulari, true oenological jewels of our island together with local gastronomic products, were the real protagonists of the two days that, for Stintino and Pozzo San Nicola, also represented a real showcase. An opportunity to showcase the excellence of seven wineries: Tenute Stintino, Cherchi, Delogu, Confraternita del Moscato, Rossini, Tenuta delle Nereidi and Ledà.
"Quality and certification - Govoni reiterated - these are the ways to develop. And certification must guarantee the product and the consumer. We think that in Europe out of 80 billion certified quality products, 20 billion are produced in Italy. Of these 9 are food and 11 are wine and for 10 years they have been growing in terms of economic results". "In Italy the value of wine is equal to 1.1 percent of the GDP. Is it little, is it a lot? We think that it is the value of all sports in Italy. So we cannot think of the economic development of our country without strong support for this sector", concluded Paolo Govoni. Yesterday evening, August 24, also saw the Florentine journalist and blogger Ilaria Guidantoni illustrate the wine and food pairings to the public of Alle Cantine di Pozzo San Nicola. Satisfaction was expressed by the organizers. "This first edition is an extraordinary result - said Antonio Diana - and it was a winning move to bring together the territories, the small producers of the cellars of North West Sardinia, with excellent products. Together we can win bets, even future ones, to assert the quality and goodness of the production". The first edition was greeted with the music of the local artist Beppe Dettori from Stintino.
