Stefano Lotumolo took the latest in the series in February. Theme: Sardinian carnivals. Subject: the Bòes and the Merdùles of Ottana, the Sartiglia of Oristano and Su Battileddu of Lula.

But the month before it was the turn of the Masai in Tanzania, where, with its association "Global Roots", it supports the construction of water wells, the first of which was immortalized in January. In the spirit of the "Inspired by the people" project, focused on the tradition, faces and stories of people around the world.

These and other photographs can be admired in Olbia, in Piazzetta Santa Croce, until 16 September. The exhibition, inaugurated on August 15th – an exhibition that Lotumolo takes around Italy with his partner, Ludovica Cristofaro from Olbia, who supports him in his travels and in organizing his work – offers, however, only a taste of the enormous archive of the 36-year-old photographer from Lucca naturalized from Olbia. But in the exhibition space in front of the church of Santa Croce, the show is guaranteed.

The legendary Whang-Od Oggay stands out, the over one hundred year old Filipino tattoo artist to whom Vogue dedicated the cover in April and from whom, in the village of Buscalan, in February 2018, Lotumolo had his calf tattooed to enter into "spiritual" contact with what later became the protagonist of one of his most evocative shots. Likewise the child monk of Myanmar and the Indian holy men, and so on, without wanting to spoil too much.

In any case, if a taste of the exhibition in Olbia weren't enough, the book of the same name (“Inspired by the people”, in fact) was released in June with 700 images. First, it goes without saying, of a probable long series, considering that Lotumolo's adventure, which started 7 years ago, has just begun.
