Fabrizio De André in words, music, and ideas: the show "On Love, War, and the Last," directed by actor Stefano Fresi, closed the literary festival "On the Edge of Discourse," organized by the Simpliciana Civic Library, last night in Olbia, with a sold-out crowd.
On stage, the same actor, who also proved to be an accomplished musician and singer, saxophonist and singer Cristiana Polegri, and guitarist Egidio Marchitelli, respectively portraying the last, love, and war, the themes of De André's poetics. An intelligent and respectful homage to the original versions through his most famous songs, especially from the 1970s and 1980s (with the sole exception of "Prinçesa" from "Anime Salve"), reflections by De André himself, or reflections on the meaning of his songs, such as Fresi's monologue on war and migration, or Cristiana Polegri's on hypocrisy and the public wife in "Via del Campo."
Once the stalls were full, the audience filled the internal courtyard of the Town Hall and, in the conclusion, in two encores, warmly accompanied the notes of “Pescatore” and in an improvised “Zirichiltagghja” sung in excellent Gallurese by Stefano Fresi, who has family origins (and vineyard) in Luogosanto and who is at home in Gallura.
The show closes the library's thirteenth summer festival , organized with the Department of Culture and the patronage of the Region, which for over two months has accompanied the evenings of Olbia residents and tourists with twenty events including literature, readings and shows.
