Professor Stefano Angioni, a lecturer at the University of Cagliari, has been appointed president-elect of the Association of Italian University Gynecologists (AGUI). The appointment came during the 100th National Congress of the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
"The AGUI," reads a press release from the University of Cagliari, "promotes and supports the activities of Italian University Gynecology, bringing together faculty, researchers, and residents, and fostering scientific exchange and the development of teaching, research, and care in gynecology and obstetrics. The appointment of Professor Angioni represents an important recognition for the University of Cagliari and its School of Gynecology, confirming its prominent role recognized nationally ."
Stefano Angioni, 62, full professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics, is director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic at the University Hospital of Cagliari, director of the School of Specialization in Gynecology and Obstetrics, and deputy director of the Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Cagliari. He has taught and continues to teach in Master's programs and PhD programs at several Italian universities and was president of the Degree Program in Obstetrics at the University of Cagliari.
His scientific activity, the statement continues, includes over 230 international publications and focuses in particular on endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and minimally invasive gynecological surgery. He has been an invited speaker at over 400 national and international conferences and has taught numerous gynecological surgery courses, giving live presentations for educational purposes.
Currently, in addition to being president-elect of AGUI, Angioni is a member of the Advisory Board of the European Society of Gynaecology, the Executive Board of the Italian Association of Endocrinological Gynecology, the Italian Society of Contraception, and the Italian Society of Reproduction.
Since 2020, he has been a member of the National Commission for Access to Healthcare Specialization Schools of the Ministry of University and Research and has been appointed by the Ministry of Health as a member of national technical tables on medically assisted procreation and chronic pelvic pain.
