The Literary Parks celebrate March 21st, World Poetry and Forest Day, and the following day, World Water Day with readings, workshops, meetings, nature and literary tours, visits to house museums and exhibitions. All the appointments and initiatives with schools and universities recall the daily commitment of Parks, reserves and natural oases, hosted by Pro Loco, associations, small entrepreneurs and the many communities in Italy and abroad.

In Sardinia, the event 'Andar per Versi e Pianta e Vivi a Galtellì' takes us to the Grazia Deledda Literary Park and invites us to discover her places of inspiration.

"A community's awareness of its own heritage, history and traditions is fundamental in the work of protecting and safeguarding its landscape heritage," said Stanislao de Marsanich, president of the Association I Parchi Letterari. "Every day we work to ensure that residents and travellers have an interpretation that encourages visits to places that would otherwise be considered only for their panorama."

"Supporting social cohesion in villages, in the countryside and also in highly urbanized places - continues de Marsanich - means not only appreciating their material and immaterial riches, but knowing and recognizing the importance of everything that surrounds them, starting from schools to the agri-food chain, which is essential to protect the territory from abandonment. Literary Parks do not limit themselves to spreading literature through places, but they contribute to safeguarding places through literature".

Not just Sardinia: this year too, the places that inspired great authors are revealed to visitors in parks all over the world, from the Arctic Circle to Sicily, from Lombardy to Cuba and the American continent, with truly engaging initiatives, available on the website parchiletterari.com. Thus, among the numerous initiatives, on the banks of the Lambro and in the gardens of Villa Reale, the Regina Margherita Literary Park and Valle Lambro Park and the Casa della Poesia in Monza will reveal to us in a literary concert the shadows and cyclamens of Alda Merini: The network of Literary Parks of Abruzzo will take us to Raiano to talk about Benedetto Croce while the Parco dei Colli Euganei will deal with Francesco Petrarca in the event 'Di pensier in pensier, di monte in monte'.

The Virgilio Museum Park invites us to attend the show 'Il testamento di Virgilio' by Chiara Prezzavento in the places of the ancient Virgilian Andes. Or we can walk the renewed 'cultural path' that follows the poetry of Attili, Bernardo and Giuseppe Bertolucci in Casarola di Monchio delle Corti. Aliano and the Carlo Levi Literary Park take us to relive the places of 'Christ Stopped at Eboli' while with Nino Chiovini we will walk the partisan paths of the Val Grande National and Literary Park. We can go trekking from Vernazza to Monterosso and back along the paths that the Cinque Terre National and Literary Park dedicated to Eugenio Montale, to learn about and protect with his poetry the biodiversity and values of a unique natural and cultural landscape.
