A cut to the accounts of local authorities to contribute to the spending review. This is what is contained in the draft Budget Law approved by the Council of Ministers and which will be sent to Parliament in the next few days.

Sardinia's contribution will be 250 million euros per year from 2024 to 2028, therefore for a total of one billion euros in total over the four years.

«The Municipalities, provinces and metropolitan cities of the regions with ordinary statute and of the regions of Sicily and Sardinia ensure a contribution to public finances equal to 250 million euros per year for each of the years from 2024 to 2028, of which 200 million euros per year paid by the municipalities and 50 million euros per year by the provinces and metropolitan cities", reads the draft.

Instead, the document continues, "the ordinary statute Regions, for each of the years from 2024 to 2028, ensure a contribution to public finances equal to 350 million euros per year".

All "for the purposes of protecting the economic unity of the Republic, in consideration of the needs to contain public spending and in compliance with the principles of coordination of public finance, pending the definition of the new rules of European economic governance".

The items excluded from the cuts will be those of social rights and health.
