"It would really be an important signal if Enrico Letta could win and not Meloni, who, as a post-fascist party, would lead Italy in the wrong direction" .

This is the endorsement to the center-left, in view of the vote of 25 September, by Lars Klinhgbeil, president of the SPD , the German social democratic party.

In a press conference in Berlin together with Letta himself (who also met the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz), Klinhgbeil added: "There is concern in view of the vote in Italy, but the elections can also be won at the last meters" .

Klingbeil also stressed that the Italian elections will be decisive, and that a victory for the Democratic Party would be very important for the Social Democrats across Europe.

For her part, Giorgia Meloni writes on Facebook: “These people are talking about Europe, but their model is the Ceaușescu regime. We do not let ourselves be intimidated by those who hate popular freedom and sovereignty ".
